Co-Curricular

James Sheahan Catholic High School has a rich and broad curriculum to offer all students. Our curriculum offerings span the trades, the sciences, the creative arts and languages. As such, our School Co-Curricular program matches the broad curriculum offerings, supplementing and enriching student learning.

Academic leaders at the school have a strong desire for students in our rural and regional context to experience the full range of learning opportunities. In any given year, students at James Sheahan have the opportunity to:

  • Be engaged in Year Masses and Encounter Mornings,
  • Travel overseas on Languages trips to France and Japan,
  • Host students from sister schools in France and Japan,
  • Visit local and national galleries,
  • Tour local agricultural sector businesses and engage with regional agribusiness,
  • Visit different places of worship for world faiths,
  • View theatre offerings in metropolitan centres,
  • Take part in Eisteddfods and tournaments,
  • Test soil and water in local waterways adjacent to our campus,
  • Show cattle at regional shows,
  • Compete in equestrian competitions,
  • Prepare catering and host dinners for special guests and parents,
  • Perform in concerts and at assemblies,
  • Trial for a range of sports at Diocese, State and National level,
  • Compete against other regional schools for the Interschool Cup, and
  • Visit university campuses, attend careers sessions on a wide range of work opportunities, and take part in Work Experience, Work Placement and volunteer work

Our Co-Curricular program is supported by an equally rich extracurricular program where students can pursue areas of their own interest in faith, sport, the arts, environmental work, or cultural pursuits. A quick glance at our social media pages will illustrate an extracurricular program which spans social justice activities, NAIDOC events, building leadership skills, through to students competing in a range of competitions from spelling bees, to Chess and STEM competitions!
